Servier, the first French independent pharmaceutical company, celebrates this year 30 years of cooperation with China and the Chinese medical community. Servier, one of the first French pharmaceutical groups to be implanted in China, aims to rank among the 10 most important pharmaceutical companies thanks to the latest drugs from its research: Protelos, Valdoxan, Procoralan, and Triplion.
"One of Servier’s greatest sources of pride is that a full 30 years ago—and long before many other companies—we started building close ties with China and the Chinese medical community” said Dr Seta, Servier’s Chief Executive Officer. “Servier has been fortunate to enjoy lasting respect and friendship in China, and to be appreciated as a reliable company, for which the long term is a core value, reflected by our 30 years of commitment in China.”
One of the earliest partnerships was with the Chinese Medical Association, which resulted in the still ongoing “Chinese-French Medical Week.” In 2001, Servier opened an International Center of Therapeutic Research in Beijing and, in 2002, a joint venture drug production facility in Tianjin.
Looking forward to the next 30 years and beyond!
Servier is entering in a unique collaboration with the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica to develop an anticancer agent and screen pharmacologically active compounds from the traditional Chinese pharmacopoeia in search of the medicines of tomorrow.
Servier is also launching two major sponsorship projects, signed with the China’s Ministry of Health, the Chinese Medical Association, and the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association.
Servier will continue expanding its drug manufacturing capacities in China, to enable the Tianjin drug production facility to supply the needs not only of China, but also of the entire Asia-Pacific zone.
